Query Language

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

loyalty marketing

finds documents containing 'loyalty' or 'marketing'

loyalty or marketing

same as above

loyalty and marketing

finds documents containing both 'information' and 'retrieval'

loyalty not marketing

finds documents containing 'loyalty' but not 'marketing'

(loyalty not marketing) and WAIS

finds documents containing 'WAIS', plus 'loyalty' but not 'marketing'

web*

finds documents containing words starting with 'web'
